You Have a Purpose – Don’t Miss It
There’s something I want you to know deep in your heart: you were created on purpose, for a purpose. You’re not here by accident. Long before you were born, God had a plan for your life. That plan isn’t about fame, money, or chasing after what the world tells you is important. It’s about living a life that matters – a life that makes a difference.
Rick Warren wrote a powerful book called The Purpose Driven Life, and the first sentence says this: “It’s not about you.” That might sound surprising in a world that constantly says, “Do what makes you happy” or “Look out for number one.” But God’s Word tells us something different – it tells us that real life, meaningful life, starts when we stop living for ourselves and start living for God and others.
So, why are you here?
According to The Purpose Driven Life, you were made for five things:
-
You were planned for God’s pleasure – That means God made you to love you, and He wants you to love Him back. Worship isn't just something you do at church. It’s how you live every day – with gratitude, trust, and joy in the One who made you.
-
You were formed for God’s family – Life isn’t meant to be lived alone. God wants you to be part of His forever family – the church. You belong, and you are deeply loved.
-
You were created to become like Christ – Life is a journey of becoming more like Jesus: full of love, patience, kindness, courage, and truth. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about growing each day with God’s help.
-
You were shaped to serve – God gave you talents and abilities not just for yourself, but to help others. Look for ways to bless people. A kind word, a helping hand, a heart that listens – those things make a huge difference.
-
You were made for a mission – God placed you here to share His love with others. That might be through your words, but often it’s through your actions: loving the unlovable, standing up for what's right, being generous, and showing people that Jesus is real by the way you live.
Never forget: You matter. Your life matters.
And when you live for God and others, you’ll find joy, peace, and purpose far greater than anything the world can offer.
One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 2:10:
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.”
So keep this in your heart: You are not here to drift through life or chase things that won’t last.
You are here to love God, love others, and live a life of purpose. And that’s a beautiful, powerful calling.
Love always,
Grandpa
