Sharing the Gospel in Fun & Creative Ways
Jesus Said it: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,” John 14:6

Jesus Said it: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,” John 14:6

When Jesus declared in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,” He made one of the most direct, uncompromising statements in the Bible. He didn’t leave room for alternative paths to God. He didn’t say He was a way or one of many ways, He said He is the way.

This isn’t a verse you can water down without denying the very heart of the Gospel. Let’s examine why this statement is true, how Scripture backs it up, and why it matters for every person on earth.

1. The Context: Jesus Was Preparing His Disciples

The statement comes during the Last Supper, in Jesus’ final hours before the cross. He was comforting His disciples and explaining how they could be with Him forever. When Thomas asked, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus responded with John 14:6.

This wasn’t philosophy—it was a clear answer to a clear question. If you want to be with the Father, you must go through Jesus.

2. The Bible Confirms There Is Only One Way

Scripture consistently reinforces the exclusivity of Christ as the only path to salvation:

  • Acts 4:12“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

  • 1 Timothy 2:5“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.”

  • John 3:36“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”

These verses are not “optional add-ons.” They are the backbone of the Gospel message. If Jesus is not the only way, the Bible is wrong, and if the Bible is wrong here, it cannot be trusted anywhere.

3. Why No Other Religion Can Bridge the Gap

Every religion recognizes a problem between man and God (or the divine). The difference is how they attempt to solve it:

  • Islam: Good works and obedience to the Quran.

  • Buddhism: Escaping the cycle of suffering through enlightenment.

  • Hinduism: Reincarnation and karma.

  • Secular humanism: Moral progress without God.

But Christianity alone teaches that humanity’s problem is sin—our rebellion against a holy God, and that the penalty is death (Romans 6:23). No amount of good works or human effort can erase sin. We need a perfect substitute to pay the penalty on our behalf. Only Jesus, the sinless Son of God, could do that.

4. Jesus Proved His Claim by the Resurrection

Plenty of people have claimed to know “the way” to God. Prophets, philosophers, and religious leaders have all spoken with authority, but only Jesus rose from the dead to prove He was telling the truth (1 Corinthians 15:3–8).

If Jesus stayed in the grave, His words in John 14:6 would be meaningless. But the resurrection is God’s stamp of approval that His sacrifice was accepted and His claims are true.

5. The Logical Choice

If God provided a way for mankind to be reconciled to Him through the death of His own Son, it would be the height of arrogance to suggest there are other, equally valid ways. To say, “I’ll take another path” is to tell God His plan was unnecessary.

If truth is truth, it must be exclusive. Two contradictory paths cannot both be correct. Jesus’ words are either 100% true or 100% false. There is no middle ground.

6. Why This Matters for You

If Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, then rejecting Him is rejecting eternal life. This isn’t about being judgmental, it’s about being honest with what God has said.

You may be a good person by the world’s standards, but good works cannot save you. You may be religious, but religion without Christ is powerless to remove sin. The only safe response to John 14:6 is faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Final Thought

Jesus’ statement in John 14:6 isn’t popular in today’s culture, but it’s the most loving truth you could ever hear. There is a way to the Father—one way—and Jesus Himself made that way open to you.

The door is open now. But you must walk through it.

Now go Spread it

Jesus' final instructions to his disciples was to go into all the world and let everyone know what God has done for them.  Salvation is found under no other name and there is no other way to God but through Jesus.

There are many ways to share the Gospel.  If you are reading this, I'm guessing you have an online presence; Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok etc.  Post something God has done in your life, or share something that you have found online.

Support missionaries around the world.  There are so many organizations that are showing God's love around the world.  Get involved with one, through your prayers and financial support.  Don 't know of one?  Here are three that we support.

Share the Gospel in person.  God says what you do for the least of these you do for me.  Show God's love, through acts of kindness.  Let them know it is because of what Jesus has done for you.

Memory Cross has a lot of resources to help you share the Gospel, whether with children, youth or adults.  You can hand them out when you are at a restaurant or with Halloween coming up, give a Gospel tract that shares Jesus with each piece of candy and then pray God uses it to touch their lives.  You many never know until you reach heaven.
