Gospel Tracts for Halloween
Halloween Gospel Tracts for Children
Halloween offers a unique opportunity for Christians to let their neighbors know that God loves them, and invite them to church. Jesus gave us this commandment:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28 19-20
The first step in making disciples is to present the Gospel. People have to hear the Good News before they can respond and that is why I get excited about the possibilities at Halloween.
When children attend a Trunk or Treat or go Trick or Treating give them a Halloween Gospel tract or some information about your church. Parents will always look over what their kids receive so why not put in some information that could be life-changing.
Option #1: Create a Halloween card that lists the children's activities at your church
There are a number of things you can hand out besides candy. If you are at your church's Trunk or Treat why not hand out some information about what is going on with the children's ministry? We made a simple business card and handed them out to children who attended our trunk or treat. We spent a little extra money and put silk lamination on both sides that made it feel expensive without spending much money. They were super nice and cost around $80 for 1,000. Here is the link if you want more information.
You can hand something like this out to trick or treaters who come to your house or pass them out at your church's Trunk or Treat.
Want to make a bigger impact?
For an even bigger impact print more of these Halloween hand out cards and give them to members of your church who have trick or treaters coming to their door. Ask them to hand out the cards along with candy. Depending on the size of your church you could easily reach 2,000 parents of young kids, letting them know what is going on at your church and inviting them to visit and it costs you almost nothing!
This is one of the reasons I believe Halloween is a great time to work on outreach. Members of the church are handing out information about children's activities to people who have children and since it is in their kid's bags most parents will read it!
Cheaper than Direct Mail
If you were doing a direct mail sent out to parents in your area who have young children the cost would be close to $2,000 for 2,000 pieces by the time you include printing, purchasing a mailing list and postage. Compare that to under $200 for the business cards and I think you'll agree this is an idea worth looking into.
Why you should consider using an invitation card at Halloween
I'm digressing some but I'm sharing my personal belief based on my experience. It is a fact that churches in America are not growing. Why is that? There is no longer any group pressure to attend church, in fact, the opposite is true. Most people are neutral about the church. They don't give it much thought and don't believe that the church offers them anything. The reason I believe is that they don't know what is going on in the church and they don't know because we are not telling them.
I've been out in the neighborhoods around our church and asked by people I'm talking with: where is our church? We sit on the main road in and out of their development and our church is pretty large. They have to drive by it to get gas, eat or go grocery shopping so they probably drive by it 20-100 times a month, and yet they don't know we exist.
This simple tool might be used by God to bring them into a relationship with Him. You never know how God is working in someone's life and how this one simple message might impact them. Take a moment and watch the video to see what I'm talking about.
Other creative ways to share the Gospel at Halloween
Gospel tracts themed around Halloween can be a great way to let children and adults know that God loves them. When we started Memory Cross we liked the idea that you could hand out something that presented the Gospel in a few simple words.
We just wanted to come up with a design that would fascinate people enough that they would actually read it. The Memory Cross design was our answer. It is one card with four sides which makes a never-ending loop. Most people find the card intriguing and will try and figure out how it works and also read the message.
The video below shows how each card folds. If you would like to get a sample and see for yourself, click this link and enter the code "Mike" and I'll pick up the shipping within the United States.
