Praying for our leaders

We support several organizations in Haiti and one of them has started sending out a daily request for prayers related to everything going on in Haiti.  In case you are not up on Haiti, it is a country facing a major crises.  Mostly leaderless and run by gangs the situation for everyday citizens, and the organizations we support are suffering as never before.  For an update, you can watch this video on YouTube. The idea of praying for Haiti made me think about prayers that are needed for this country.

I'm kind of a history buff so I know that our country has faced many issues in the past, some much worse than the ones we are facing now.  No matter who you are planning to support in November, pray that their hearts and the hearts of all our leaders will turn toward God and that we may find unity.

We need leaders with a vision that includes the welfare of all members of society, one that strengthens the family unit and provides relief for people who are struggling.  Pray that God will move through not only the leaders, but that our hearts as everyday citizens will turn to Him.

God says: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 2 Chronicles 7:14-15

I challenge you to pray for this nation, its leaders and people that we will turn from our wicked ways and turn toward God and that unity and love may replace the striff and hatred we currently have.
